Singing in Harmony, Building Community

The Community Festival at Community RunFest Rayleigh is all about bringing people together, celebrating local talent and creating memorable experiences for everyone to enjoy.

One of the groups helping create that festival atmosphere is Harmonise Choir, an Essex-based community choir led by Steve Morgan. Since beginning their journey in January 2023, Harmonise Choir has grown into a thriving community of more than 100 members who meet across Rayleigh, Southend and Ashingdon to share their love of music and performance.

As their name suggests, Harmonise Choir specialises in singing popular songs in harmony, bringing people together through music, friendship and a shared passion for performing. The choir regularly performs at local events and welcomes new members of all ages and abilities, with a strong focus on creating an enjoyable and inclusive environment.

Steve believes that fitness and wellbeing are important for everyone, whether that's through movement, exercise or singing. He describes the body as "marvellous" and says we are all designed to move, breathe and sing.

The choir is proud to be supporting Community RunFest Rayleigh and believes events like this play an important role in bringing communities together. Steve explains that opportunities to connect through shared experiences, physical activity and enjoyment are more important than ever, helping create a stronger sense of community and belonging.

While some members of Harmonise Choir may be taking part in the running events, Steve jokes that he'll be sticking to the singing! Visitors to the Community Festival can look forward to a lively performance from the choir, helping create a fantastic atmosphere as part of the day's celebrations.
