Bringing Creativity to the Community Festival

Confidence, creativity and community are at the heart of everything Mushroom Theatre Company does.

Led by Director Penni Bubb, the Rayleigh-based performing arts school has spent years helping children, young people and adults discover their potential through dance, drama and singing. By creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, Mushroom Theatre Company has become a place where people can build confidence, develop new skills and form lasting friendships.

At the heart of Mushroom Theatre Company is a belief that the performing arts can have a powerful impact on wellbeing. Through classes, performance opportunities, examinations and a monthly youth club, the organisation provides a safe and supportive environment where children, young people and adults can grow, learn and express themselves.

Inclusion is a key part of Mushroom Theatre Company's ethos. Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability, and the organisation actively encourages participation from the SEND community. Their focus is not only on developing performance skills, but also on creating opportunities for people to experience the social, emotional and physical benefits that come from being part of a supportive group.

While Penni admits that Mushroom Theatre Company isn't necessarily passionate about running itself, they are passionate about fitness of both the mind and body. Through creativity, movement and wellbeing-focused activities, the team works to promote positive emotional and physical health for everyone involved.

Penni believes Community RunFest Rayleigh is a fantastic example of how communities can come together through a shared goal. Events like these create opportunities for physical activity, connection and joy — something she feels is more important than ever.
